Offered are two collectable plates by Ridgways, made in England. These date to the late 1800s and were from the book “Coaching Days and Coaching Ways” by W. Outram Tristram. The two scenes on each plate are “In a Snow Drift” and “Taking up the Mail” from illustrations by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton. The black transferware scenes are surrounded by a raised scrolled and floral border with scalloped edge – just lovely. They both have overall crazing and one has a flea mark on the lower part of the scene. The other has a half inch fine line crack in the floral border – it is curved and outlines the flower, and does not detract. The plates are marked with the Ridgways Renaissance mark as well as the publishing mark of MacMillan & Company. In addition they are impressed with the numbers 2 over 30.

Dimensions: 10.5’’ diameter
